About Our Troop

Our Scouts come from different schools and even different parts of the country. Our common bond is adventure and Scouting. Our retention and participation is very, very high. At any time, half of Troop 418 are Scouts that have prior experience with another troop; the others crossed over from a local Webelos program. Our Troop is growing. We welcome everyone!

We light a fire at every meeting – both in our fire pit as well as our Scout spirit.

We meet in our Scout hut (not a classroom or hall) and typically open our meetings around our outdoor flagpole. Our meetings are always hands-on, working on knots or first aid or fire building or perfecting a cup of hot chocolate. We do not hold merit badge classes during a Scout meeting.

It's our promise.

For more than 100 years, it has been in the heart of every Scout who ever overcame one of life’s challenges. It is the value of being prepared — the core of Scouting and a statement that inspires a lifetime of character and service.

As we look to a new century of Scouting achievements, we light a new fire in the next generation of Scouts. We shall instill in them the honor and integrity that comes with being a Scout. We will build their character and ensure they are prepared for something more.

Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. Click to learn more about Scouts BSA.

We will prepare them for life.
